LA AEP President’s Message – Ian M. Forrest, Esq.

2014 has turned out to be a very productive year for the Los Angeles chapter.  The rollout of the revamped LA AEP website definitely marks a milestone for us. We are excited at the prospect of using this new forum as a means to communicate information regarding upcoming events and programs, to thank chapter sponsors and supporters, and to solicit ways we can improve our members’ experiences.

We have also been hard at work to provide programs and event experiences to compliment your professional development.  In the past six months, the LA AEP has hosted an advanced CEQA workshop, a lunchtime presentation of current legislation affecting CEQA, a professional mentoring event, and participated as a cooperating organization supporting the Los Angeles Business Council’s 2014 Sustainability Summit.

We are currently excited about our upcoming event to see Herbie Hancock at the Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday August 6, 2014 (contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. is you are interested), as well as a CEQA basics workshop this fall. If, for whatever reason, you have missed or been unaware of these programs, please let us know how we can better communicate this information with you. LA AEP maintains a robust mailing list and has every interest in improving our membership outreach.

We also have endeavored to keep you in the know regarding ongoing regulatory and legislative developments. These “In case you missed it…” e-mails have discussed the CEQA Guidelines updates being undertaken by California Office of Planning & Research, the Governor’s drought proclamations, as well as California legislative developments affecting CEQA (or of potential interest otherwise).

In brief, the LA AEP Board is constantly working to improve member services and to make AEP membership a value add to your professional development and understanding of CEQA.

We look forward to continuing to serve you.

Should any of you have comments on the website and/or how the LA AEP Board can improve your membership experience, please contact any one of us via our contact information provided here.

Warm regards,

Ian M. Forrest, Esq.
