Los Angeles AEP President’s Message – Geoffrey Danker, AICP

Greetings Environmental Professionals,

Thank you for your interest in the Association of Environmental Professionals (AEP).

AEP is a non-profit organization of professionals working to improve their skills as environmental and resource managers. Since its formation in 1974, AEP has grown to 1,600+ members: planners, attorneys, scientists, air quality and noise specialists, transportation planners, archeologists, engineers, and many other professionals in excitingly varied disciplines. AEP is the preeminent professional organization focused on the California environmental review process.

There are numerous benefits to becoming a member of AEP. Our popular biannual CEQA and NEPA Workshops provide updates on existing and recently adopted CEQA/NEPA laws and current court actions. The annual State Conference offers members an opportunity to hear leading speakers in the environmental field. Members receive discounts when attending workshops, conferences, and programs and often earn continuing education credits under AICP and MCLE.

AEP’s Legislative Committee closely tracks and responds to proposed CEQA legislation while the Climate Change Committee provides information and guidance to AEP members. Members receive our annual CEQA Handbook, the comprehensively indexed ‘go-to’ reference volume of environmental documents. Finally, our website is a tremendous resource, providing information about upcoming programs, legislative updates, and job opportunities.

The core of our efforts in LA County are dedicated to presenting educational, technical and social programs to help YOU grow as an environmental professional. For 2017, we have an exciting slate of events already in-store, including:

  • CEQA Advanced and Essentials Workshops
  • NEPA Workshop
  • South Coast Air Quality Management District Update
  • Legislative Update
  • AEP State Conference and AEP Institute
  • Mentor Roundtables at UCLA, USC and Pepperdine
  • Summer Picnic and Holiday Party
  • And much more!

The LA AEP Board is constantly working to make AEP membership a vital part of your professional development portfolio. Please do not hesitate to let us hear your suggestions! Feel free to contact any of us on the Board of Directors page. Members are also encouraged to participate in our monthly Board meeting and/or our Programs or Membership Committees.

Please join us in making LA AEP vital and energetic. We look forward to your enthusiastic participation and welcome you to our next event!

Environmentally yours,

Geoffrey Danker, AICP
